In this monthly Reader’s Digest column, I select and summarize recent medical research that could be interesting to the general public. This entails translating lengthy scientific articles into accessible, plain-language news briefs. Inevitably, due to the word count, some of the nuances and limitations of the research must go unmentioned. But reporting as responsibly as possible within the limited space makes for an interesting challenge.
